OpenVMS: A True 64-bit, Realtime Operating System
QEI’s TDMS-Plus architecture maintains the core SCADA system database on extremely secure and optimized realtime servers, while it provides secure and open access to real-time data for many external systems, as well as QEI’s Windows-based Plus-Editors and WorldView full-graphic operator interface.

 

QEI’s TDMS-Plus Master Station uses true 64-bit Integrity servers running OpenVMS, which is a true 64-bit operating system, the only operating system currently available that was initially designed for real-time applications. OpenVMS is routinely employed in high security utility, military, medical and financial applications. It is the most bullet-proof, 24x7 operating system available today for mission critical systems that must function unattended, and require security and reliability well beyond that possible with PC based systems.

QEI’s WorldView Operator Interface software and Plus-Editor software run on standard commercial PC Workstations, and take advantage of the rich graphical and user interface capabilities inherent in Microsoft Windows operating system. WorldView handles the computing intensive graphics load, and minimizes communication load on the network and the TDMS-Plus database servers by exchanging only changed data with the servers.
