Over the past 12 years, QEI’s capacitor bank controller technology has demonstrated its ability to adapt beyond North American utility environments through successful deployment in Vietnam’s power distribution network. Working closely with local integration partner My Phuong Company (MP Co.), QEI’s mCAP and eCAP controllers have been installed across multiple utility projects, resulting in 1,811 controller deployments between 2013 and 2025.

This long-term adoption highlights reliability and robustness of QEI’s technology. QEI strongly believes in local partnerships for delivering solutions for international utility markets.

Challenges

Vietnam’s power distribution network presented unique challenges, including high ambient temperatures, diverse field conditions, local utility operating practices, communication requirements, and maintenance procedures that differ from those commonly encountered in North America.

To achieve long-term success, the solution needed to demonstrate reliable performance under real-world operating conditions while integrating seamlessly into existing utility workflows.

QEI’s mCAP and eCAP capacitor bank controllers demonstrated their robustness and long-term reliability in Vietnam’s medium-voltage distribution network, delivering consistent performance under demanding environmental and operational conditions. Installed at strategic locations including feeder heads, mid-feeder points, and critical load areas, the controllers provided automated capacitor bank control to support utility operational objectives. Over more than a decade of deployment, the solution contributed to improved voltage stability in fluctuating load areas, reduced power losses across the distribution network, and enhanced overall power quality—demonstrating that QEI’s controller technology can successfully perform in diverse utility environments beyond North America.

A key contributor to this success was the collaboration between QEI and local integration partner My Phuong Trading Co., Ltd. (MP Co.). MP Co. successfully deployed QEI’s mCAP and eCAP controllers across multiple projects throughout Vietnam, providing local expertise, field validation, and implementation support.
